For Project Two, each group in our class focused on a topic that has an important impact on society. Each presentation gave a different perspective on how different but still connected they are and influence each other as well.  Group 1 presented the topic of Environment, Safety, and Healthcare , and their presentation gave a new perspective of looking at health. They explained that our well-being isn’t just shaped by medical care, but also by the environment we live in. They talked about how issues like air pollution, unsafe neighborhoods, and lack of access to nutritious food can impact people’s health. They also compared life expectancy across countries, pointing out that even though the U.S. spends more on healthcare, people tend to live longer in places like Canada and Japan. Their interview with Samir M. Elmir , who works in Environmental Public Health, gave a real-world look at how these issues affect communities in Miami-Dade County . The way they blended all the informatio...

Our Second Presentations When we began preparing for the second round of presentations, I immediately noticed how different I felt compared to the first presentation earlier in the semester. During the first one, I was nervous, unsure of what to expect, and stressed about every detail. I was scared of messing up or forgetting information. This second time, I walked into class much more confident. I already understood how the presentation structure worked, what type of content the professor expected, and how to organize the slides. Instead of being worried about nerves, I focused on expressing the information in a clear and relatable way. Knowing what was expected allowed me to relax and actually enjoy presenting. I wasn’t overwhelmed or anxious — I was prepared. Our professor gave us six major social topics to choose from: Healthcare, Environment & Safety of People, Education, Economy, Immigration, and Families. Each group had to connect   two topics   and show how ...

Blog-Project 2 by Victoria Arana

For Project Two, each group in class explored a topic that plays an important role in shaping society. Every presentation added a new perspective on how different systems connect and affect one another. I found Group 3's presentation on Immigrants and the Economy meaningful as it ties in with my group's project...Education and Economy. They both highlight how people and opportunity drive growth, stability and innovation in a country. They helped me understand that education and immigration are not separate issues but part of one larger system that keeps the U.S. economy strong. Group 3 emphasized that immigrants are essential in almost every part of the economy. From agriculture, hospitality, and construction to healthcare and technology, immigrants hold important positions that keep the country functioning. The U.S Bureau of Labor Statistics shows that immigrants are a strong presence in both high-demand and high-skilled jobs. The fact alone shows how much the country depends ...

Our Second Presentations-  Blog 2: Veronica Fernandez Coming into these Presentations, I wasn't as nervous as the first presentation as I already got the hang of it. We were split into four groups of 5-6 people. Each group chose two topics. The Topics were: 1. Healthcare 2. Our Environment and the Safety of People 3. Education 4. Economy 5. Immigration 6. Families Group 1 chose the the Environment and the Safety of People & Healthcare. Group 2 chose Healthcare & Families, Group 3 chose Immigration & Economy. Group 4 chose Education & Economy. My group chose to correlate Education and Economy. Unlike the other presentations where Group1went first and then onward, Group 4 (my group) began first. Our project consisted of College Education's role in the Economy. I began the presentation by talking about the main differences in Public v. Private Education on a college level. I gave extra insight into the history and differences in other countries. The first ever coll...

Thoughts on Presentation-Victoria Arana

Victoria Arana      I think everyone did a good presentation, and I truly believe the class, including me, all learned a lot from one another throughout the presentation. Every group brought a lot to the table, and it was clear that everyone put a lot of effort and time into their work. Every group had its own style of presentation and its own understanding of the material. But, I must say that Group 1 stood out the most to me during the weeks of presentations. The way they approached their assignment, the way they spoke, and did their design on the slides all came out perfectly.     Group 1's presentation was very organized. From the very beginning. When Victoria Areas gave the introduction, it was clear she was very prepared. She spoke very clearly, confidently, and naturally. She explained the content and added insights that showed what she learned from the material. But she wasn't the only one who impressed me. Amanda Rodriguez Palau brought a strong p...

Presentation Reflection

Candace Garcia  When I think back on the presentations I watched through Zoom, I can honestly say I enjoyed the experience a lot more than I thought I would. Going into it, I assumed that since it would be through zoom it would be boring and I wouldn't really take in anything from the presentations. If we're being honest it isn't easy trying to get people's attention through a screen rather than an in-person presentation. However, as each person began presenting, I quickly realized how much effort had been put into their work. The variety of styles, the creativity in the slides, and the way people adapted to the online format all impressed me. Even though we were not physically in the same room, there was still a sense of connection in a way, and not only did I feel engaged, I also felt informed. One of the first things I noticed was how prepared everyone looked like they were. From the moment a presenter began sharing their screen, I could tell they had thought careful...

Veronica Fernandez- Our First Presentations

Our First Presentations- Veronica Fernandez As a class we were given an assignment to create presentations about Public Speaking. We were split into four groups with around 5-6 people in each one. Each group had certain chapters to work on. The book that we had to go based on was called "Public Speaking; The Evolving Art". I found this book to be very interesting because it discussed everything about public speaking. It covered skills, different types of speeches, ideas, & etc. Group 1 worked on Chapters 1-5, Group 2 worked on Chapters 6-8, Group 3 worked on Chapters 9-12, and Group 4 worked on Chapters 13-17, from the same book. I had the chance to listen to everyone's speech and was able to learn more about public speaking myself through the presentations. It helped me get more insight on those chapters I didn't read and the important skill. Each speaker presented their own type of style, writing, and creativity. Watching my classmate's speech gave me more ...
