Thoughts on Presentation-Victoria Arana

Victoria Arana      I think everyone did a good presentation, and I truly believe the class, including me, all learned a lot from one another throughout the presentation. Every group brought a lot to the table, and it was clear that everyone put a lot of effort and time into their work. Every group had its own style of presentation and its own understanding of the material. But, I must say that Group 1 stood out the most to me during the weeks of presentations. The way they approached their assignment, the way they spoke, and did their design on the slides all came out perfectly.     Group 1's presentation was very organized. From the very beginning. When Victoria Areas gave the introduction, it was clear she was very prepared. She spoke very clearly, confidently, and naturally. She explained the content and added insights that showed what she learned from the material. But she wasn't the only one who impressed me. Amanda Rodriguez Palau brought a strong p...

Presentation Reflection

Candace Garcia  When I think back on the presentations I watched through Zoom, I can honestly say I enjoyed the experience a lot more than I thought I would. Going into it, I assumed that since it would be through zoom it would be boring and I wouldn't really take in anything from the presentations. If we're being honest it isn't easy trying to get people's attention through a screen rather than an in-person presentation. However, as each person began presenting, I quickly realized how much effort had been put into their work. The variety of styles, the creativity in the slides, and the way people adapted to the online format all impressed me. Even though we were not physically in the same room, there was still a sense of connection in a way, and not only did I feel engaged, I also felt informed. One of the first things I noticed was how prepared everyone looked like they were. From the moment a presenter began sharing their screen, I could tell they had thought careful...

Veronica Fernandez- Our First Presentations

Our First Presentations- Veronica Fernandez As a class we were given an assignment to create presentations about Public Speaking. We were split into four groups with around 5-6 people in each one. Each group had certain chapters to work on. The book that we had to go based on was called "Public Speaking; The Evolving Art". I found this book to be very interesting because it discussed everything about public speaking. It covered skills, different types of speeches, ideas, & etc. Group 1 worked on Chapters 1-5, Group 2 worked on Chapters 6-8, Group 3 worked on Chapters 9-12, and Group 4 worked on Chapters 13-17, from the same book. I had the chance to listen to everyone's speech and was able to learn more about public speaking myself through the presentations. It helped me get more insight on those chapters I didn't read and the important skill. Each speaker presented their own type of style, writing, and creativity. Watching my classmate's speech gave me more ...

Reflection Melanie Borroto

For one of our recent class assignments, we had to put together group presentations on public speaking. The whole thing was based on the textbook Public Speaking: The Evolving Art, and our class was divided into four groups. Each group had about five or six people, and we all got different chapters from the book to cover. Group 1 had Chapters 1–5, Group 2 had Chapters 6–8 (and also Chapter 4 that got skipped earlier), Group 3 got Chapters 9–12, and Group 4 finished things off with Chapters 13–17. At first, I thought it was just going to be another group project where people take turns reading information off slides. But it ended up being a lot more interesting than I expected. Instead of just sitting down and reading the chapters on my own, I got to hear everyone explain things in their own style. Some groups used examples, some were really organized with their slides, and others added their own creativity to make their points come across. That made it easier to pay attention, and hon...

Looking Back on Our Class Presentations

Salome Jimenez  Looking Back on Our Class Presentations Walking into our oral communication class each week felt like stepping into a mini-conference. Instead of the usual lectures, we had the opportunity to experience a series of presentations based on "Public Speaking: The Evolving Art " (5th edition, by Stephanie J. Coopman and James Lull). Seventeen chapters divided among four groups meant that over several days, we covered everything from managing stage fright to delivering persuasive speeches. This setup turned the class into something much more interactive than I expected, and it made me look forward to each session. I genuinely enjoyed every presentation. Each group came prepared, and the PowerPoints were polished, colorful, and easy to follow. It was obvious that everyone took the assignment seriously. Instead of copying straight from the textbook, groups built on the ideas with examples, visuals, and creative approaches. Even though the chapters overl...
